Good morning!

US stock futures were mixed early Thursday as the post-election relief rally cooled and weak chip earnings pulled on tech. Dow futures were up about 0.4%, S&P 500 futures were down 0.1%, and Nasdaq-100 futures were down around 0.7%, with oil prices and Treasury yields lower.

The caution follows a blowout session on Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1,569.40 points, or 3.03%, to close at 53,356.12 — its best day since April 2025 — while the S&P 500 gained 1.58% to 7,688.62 and the Nasdaq Composite rose 1.44% to 25,736.51. Stocks rallied after Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress, as investors embraced the prospect of divided government and rotated into several of the market’s biggest technology names.

Chipmakers are the soft spot this morning. Nasdaq-100 futures fell as much as 1.3% on weak Arm and Qualcomm earnings and fresh AI-rule worries hitting data center stocks, with Nvidia, Micron and Sandisk in focus. West Texas Intermediate crude traded near $88 a barrel after shedding 8% on Wednesday, as hopes grew for an Iran deal. With the government shutdown still limiting official data, investors are leaning on private jobs figures for a read on the labor market.
